Reasons to spend a weekend in the Forks , Maine

Summer is in full swing here in the Forks, Maine. Summer is one of our favorite seasons. The Humming birds are buzzing, the flowers are blooming and the Kennebec river is a wonderful way for folks to cool off and beat the heat!!!

Reason to come spend a weekend at the Forks – It’s peak season for whitewater rafting, we host many guests that have come to take on a day down the Kennebec Gorge, or those taking on The Dead River,  The states longest continuous section of whitewater. If you are craving something more a bit relaxing our Tubing trips with Three Rivers Whitewater are a guest favorite!

We are partnered with 201 powersports for those of you that seek a little throttle therapy!! The Inn is connected to Maines wonderful trail system. Our guests love to take on a loop over to Moosehead or up to Jackman and back!

Waterfall weekend! – We have 4 wonderful waterfalls within a short distance of us! Spend the weekend checking off some of Maine’s most scenic falls. Houston Brook Falls, Grand Falls, Moxie Falls and Cold stream falls are great to start with. Add on Jim-Mac Falls, Heald Stream and Slide down falls for a true weekend challenge!

Hiking – There are miles and miles of hiking trails within a short drive of the Inn by the River. Hike all day and then come back to your comfy accommodations and let us cook you a wonderful meal at the Riverside Pub. Our favorite local trails are Coburn Mountain, Mosquito Mountain and Pleasant pond mountain. We are also just north of the Appalachian trail too. Take on a section and then come relax with us.

Fishing! Fishing is always hot up here! While the Brook trout and Salmon are starting to head for deeper water, the small mouth bass fishing is prime!

Music!! – Our sister location the Boatman’s bar and grill has live music most weekends! They are a staple in this region for good nightlife! They’ve even got axe throwing!

Peace – Escape the grind, being surrounded by nature and water up here lends itself to a relaxing unplugged weekend.
