Hiking the Appalachian Trail

You've heard stories of the famous Appalachian Trail for years. Well, grab your hiking boots, backpack, and other gear and hit the trail yourself!

Moxie Falls - 1 mile hike producing spectacular views and includes a stop at a 90-foot waterfall! Grand Falls Horse Shoe Falls - nicknamed the little Niagara of the east. Bird Watching, Moose Watching, Day hikes. The Inn offers a shuttle service to and from the trails (sorry, you're on your own for the hikes!).

Explore Moxie Pond, Indian Pond, Wyman Lake, paddle the quiet section of the Kennebec River, stop at Pierce Pond Stream and hike south on the Appalachian trail for a picnic at Pierce Pond. Rentals & Guide Service available through Inn By The River.

Maine receives some of the best snow in New England, so pack up your gear and head on up for some great winter fun! The closest ski areas to the Inn are:
